Nuclear Proliferation

Nuclear Proliferation

The Ukraine war has shown glaring weaknesses in the world order. It is clear that we need to make nuclear weapons illegal for all countries. Russia has wielded more power than they deserve because of the threat of a nuclear war.

  • There are two separate groups of countries we are dealing with. There is Russia, North Korea, Iran, Pakistan as one group. I may have forgotten other countries. These countries have weak economies and weak militaries except that they have nuclear weapons. We are not concerned that much about any economic fall-out from these countries
  • Then there is China. Here we have both a military and an economic problem. We would like them to partner with us in the world economy but under rules that are acceptable to ourselves and the rest of the economically developed world.
  • The United Nations does not seem to be designed to solve these problems. Frankly, I am not sure how valuable the United Nations is other than a place to tell the world how you feel and then do nothing about it.
  • NATO has proven to be an organization that has solidified and could put pressure on these countries. The problem is that it does not deal with our major Southeast Asia trading partners. We either need to create a functioning organization that will work with NATO for these countries, or we need to enlarge NATO to include counties like Australia Japan South Korea and the countries in Southeast Asia like Malaysia, Thailand Vietnam etc.
  • These countries need to sign a non-proliferation treaty and agree to give up all their nuclear weapons once the rest of the world (the countries listed above) agree to give up their weapons. This is going to be a long game solution.
  • We will keep pressure on these counties that do not agree to give up their weapons and sign a non-proliferation treaty by cutting them off from participating economically in the world order. We will starve these countries economically until they agree and or their current leader dies, and the new leader sees that the best way to remain in power and grow his/her economy is to negotiate a settlement with us.
  • China is a bigger problem. Here we need to pressure them economically to not only give up nuclear weapons but agree to behave in a way economically that is acceptable to the Western World.  Otherwise, all the counties in NATO, Asia and Southeast Asia will stop purchasing goods and services from them. We need to sell them on being a part of the world economy, but they need to behave in a fashion that is acceptable to us. They must sign a non-proliferation treaty. No country should be allowed to hold us up because they have nuclear weapons. We need to make it very painful for them to stand on their own.
They are no longer the cheapest place for Labor. We can get all the inexpensive labor we need from Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Africa.
