Trump’s Tariffs: Blackmail, Not Strategy — And a $7 Billion-Dollar Payoff

Default image

Donald Trump didn’t return to the presidency to serve the American people — he came back for revenge and reimbursement.

He’s made that clear in both his rhetoric and his policies. One of his favorite tools? Tariffs. But they weren’t designed to help America. They were designed to pressure foreign governments — blackmail them, really — into making business deals that personally benefit Trump and his family. The proof is in the billions he’s raking in while average Americans get stuck paying higher prices on everything from cars to groceries.

While he insists his tariffs have been “successful,” he never defines success for whom. It certainly isn’t the U.S. economy or working families. It’s Trump himself — and the ledger doesn’t lie.

Trump’s Personal Foreign Business Boom (2025–Now)

Since taking office a second time, Trump’s private empire has exploded across the globe. While he slaps tariffs on countries to “punish them,” foreign governments and business elites are quietly signing luxury real estate deals with his brand — and funneling millions into his companies.

Here’s a snapshot of the foreign deals Trump has secured for himself during his second presidency:

CountryProject(s)Estimated Value
UAE (Dubai)Trump Int’l Hotel & Tower~$600 million
QatarGolf resort + villas with DarGlobal~$5.5 billion
Saudi ArabiaTowers in Jeddah & Riyadh with DarGlobalMulti-billion (undisclosed)
IndiaTowers in Pune and Gurgaon~$445 million combined
SerbiaTrump Tower BelgradeLikely billion-dollar scale
UruguayTrump Tower Punta del Este (completed)~$120 million

That’s billions in international business — most of it backed or facilitated by foreign governments or government-tied developers. These are the same countries Trump used tariffs or foreign policy pressure to strong-arm during and after his first term.

 Foreign Government Payments

Even during his first term, Trump-owned businesses raked in at least $13.6 million from 20 foreign governments. Since then, licensing income has ballooned to $50 million annually.

Let’s be clear: Hunter Biden never came close to this. Trump’s global financial network — built while wielding presidential power — is unmatched in scale and brazenness.

 The Crypto Grift

But it’s not just real estate. Trump went full-in on crypto, launching the $TRUMP meme coin in 2025. Here’s how that turned out:

  • Initial value: Market cap reached $27–$29 billion
  • Trump’s personal cut: ~$350 million from token sales
  • Current value of remaining coins: ~$93 million
  • Total income from crypto ventures: At least $620 million, possibly over $1 billion when including World Liberty Financial, a Trump family DeFi firm backed by a $2B investment from Abu Dhabi.

So when you ask where Trump’s heart lies — it’s not with democracy, it’s not with American families, and it’s certainly not with lowering prices at the grocery store.

It’s with his foreign revenue streams and getting back every dollar he thinks he lost after being voted out in 2020.

 A Simple Question

If a former president can use tariffs to punish foreign nations — then turn around and sign billion-dollar deals with them — what do we call that?

Because it sure as hell isn’t patriotism.
